ASP.NET Developers...
Give Your Users What They Want!

Ever since the dawn of data processing and green-bar printouts, reporting has been a critically important function within any business application. Reports are used by managers, executives and others to extract the business intelligence they need to make sound business decisions. Reports help decision makers avoid competitive threats, take advantage of opportunities and run business more efficiently. It's all about getting actionable business intelligence when it's needed -- up to date and in the format that's most useful.

The problem is... Every time a user needs a new report or even a modification to an existing canned report, they've got to make a request. Then wait. Often for days, weeks or longer. Business moves much to fast to wait...

  • ...while the request is prioritized against the list of projects facing the dev team

  • ...while the specification for the report is created, then goes through the approval process

  • ...while a Crystal Report or SQL Reporting Services programmer writes the code

  • ...while the new report is deployed or integrated into the existing application

Enter Izenda Reports. It allows the users of an ASP.NET application to create and modify their own reports -- without programming or database knowledge. It puts information in the hands of the people who need it, without interrupting developers with constant requests for "just one more report." It gives decision makers what they want, right now. Everyone wins!

How to Use Visual Grouping

Izenda Reports contains a one-click Visual Grouping feature that can simplify lengthy reports and make them much more informative.

Here's a typical report (from the familiar Northwind SQL database) with various Categories of products listed one after another. For example, you'll see Beverages category repeated over and over, followed by Condiments, etc. We've saved the report here as a PDF, to save space in this newsletter.  (Incidentally, creating the PDF is also a one-click operation. We could similarly have saved it in CSV, Excel, XML, Open Office, RTF, etc.)

The report With Visual Grouping automatically summarizes each Category. This makes the report easier to read, to interpret and gives a better view of information.

How do you "turn on" Visual Grouping?  The screen shot below shows how it appears in the standard Izenda Reports user interface at our web site.  Of course when you integrate Izenda Reports into your application, you'll want it to take on the look and feel of your application.

Visual Grouping ON

For example, you might make Visual Grouping a default feature for all the reports coming from your .NET application. Or, you might activate it with a radio button or a multi-select drop-down instead of a check box -- if circumstances and your design make that more appropriate for your app.

Bottom line: the user of your app can do in a few seconds what it would take a Crystal or SQL Reporting Services developer -- shall we say, just a while longer -- to build into a report. This self-service, on-demand capability is what users want. Now it's easy to give it to them.

Show Us Your Work - Win $25

Virtually every developer using Izenda Reports has implemented it differently within their application. What do they all have in common? Everyone uses standard Windows controls that users are already familiar with. How you implement Izenda reporting is limited only by the requirements of your application and your own creativity.

If you're especially pleased with the reporting user interface you've built into a recent app using Izenda Reports, send us a screen shot and a short description of your application. Each submission will be judged and a winner will receive a $25 AMEX Gift Card. Submit your work by 1/31/2008 to screenshots@izenda.com.

Can We Shine the Media
Spotlight on You?

Getting an article in the trade press about the .NET work you're doing can bring a flurry of new business.  An article that tells the world about your products or services can be far more effective than a paid advertisement. Free publicity is a great way to get your name in front of potential customers.

If you've built an application using Izenda Reports, we'd like to hear from you.  Each month we write a press release that highlights one of our partners and the impact Izenda Reports has had on their success. This gives our partners an opportunity to tell other IT professionals, end user prospects and others how their software delivers real value. These releases also shine the PR spotlight on Izenda. We think it's a real win-win situation.

You might want to see a recent story that spotlights RoboTechnologies of Milan, OH and their PlacePro application.

Are you ready to have your name delivered to the media?  If so, contact us by phone or send an email to media@izenda.com.

Our Mission

We're here to help:

  • Developers empower their end users and reduce the workload associated with the busy work of report writing.

  • Sales and Marketing software professionals gain competitive advantage by giving users what they want, rather than what you think they want from their database.

  • Business users own and use their data to make better business decisions.

  • Build win-win partnerships with forward-thinking software development and software marketing professionals.

According to IDC, over one million databases are installed each year at a cost of $16 billion -- a lot of money. But what's worse, companies spend another $8 billion just to extract the information in those million databases so their users can make intelligent, timely business decisions!

There is a better way. Giving users ownership of their data, without having to task IT for every new report or "tweak" to an existing report just makes sense.  We're here to help you make that happen.

When you integrate Izenda Reports into your .NET web application, you're empowering your users, gaining competitive advantage and reducing time to market.  You know your users want and expect to have the information they need -- right now.  You can deliver all that and more when you tap into the technology that is Izenda Reports.
