Izenda Reports Runs on Linux: Windows Azure Makes it Happen

Izenda opens doors by bringing its enterprise reporting tool into the open source community.

Sept. 9, 2013 – Atlanta, GA – In response to a customer request, engineers at Izenda have successfully run Izenda Reports on Linux servers. Windows Azure VMs enabled the team to start the process quickly without acquiring additional hardware. This represents a huge leap for the company, as it takes its product into the open source world.

“Microsoft’s Windows Azure cloud computing platform enables Izenda to rapidly bring new products to market,” said Scott McLeod, VP of Engineering at Izenda. “Azure gives Izenda a competitive advantage by eliminating time consuming hardware procurement and administrative IT tasks, freeing key resources to focus on Izenda’s customers and core business,” McLeod concluded.

Izenda’s foray into open-source began with a partner’s acquisition of a Linux platform. The partner was evaluating other vendors, time was of the essence. Izenda’s R&D team raced against the clock to determine if its product line could be adapted to perform in this environment. Azure allowed Izenda to set up environments to begin our work in a matter of minutes, a task which traditionally can take several days.

“For years, we have only been able to offer our reports and dashboards to Microsoft customers,” said Izenda Chief Sales Officer Louie Bernstein. “It’s great that Linux-based customers can now take advantage of our technology as well.”

This marks a larger shift within the company towards supporting open source databases and servers. “We are excited to support the open source community and love working with open standards,” said Izenda CEO Sanjay Bhatia, who founded the company in 2002. “Izenda is now available to more software developers and user communities than ever.”

More details on running Izenda on Linux on Windows Azure will be released in the next few weeks. Call 678-500-9136 for more information.
